Morocco is playing host to a massive international conference on Climate Change. From 7th – 18th November, representatives of the world’s nations will gather in Marrakesh for COP22 ( the 22nd Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework on Climate Change). The Conference hopes to create a roadmap for the vision expressed in Paris at last year’s conference. It aims to find ways to prevent and mitigate the effects of greenhouse gases and temperature change, especially to poor and vulnerable countries. The King of Morocco and the Moroccan government and people are closely committed to helping find solutions both for Morocco and for the wider world. This conference has been eagerly awaited and various initiatives are being put in locally towns to emphasise its importance.
REEP’s initiatives in garden and environmental awareness are a tiny contribution to this commitment to mitigating climate change. We would like to pay tribute to the enthusiasm of our Moroccan partners and we look forward to future work together to address this pressing problem that we all face. More gardens, less environmental destruction!
