Plant Part Description
bud Buds are flowers that have not yet opened. They protect flowers until they are ready to open.
flower Flowers have petals and they make fruits or seeds. Flowers are brightly coloured and they usually smell lovely.
leaf Leaves are the flat green parts that grow from stems and branches. They collect sunlight for plants to make food.
petal Petals are part of the flower. They are colourful with special markings to attract insects like bees and butterflies.
root Roots are the parts that grow underground. They take up water and nutrients and hold plants in the soil.
stem Stems hold leaves and flowers in the air. They carry water and nutrients from the roots to flowers and leaves.
